What the Heck is This Blog?
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009When I first started thinking about my blog, I thought I’d write about my experiences as a math tutor. You know, what works, what doesn’t, what books I like—stuff like that.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that tutoring math teaches me a lot more than just math. It pushes me to question my own beliefs about learning, focus, motivation, praise, and innate ability.
So I wanted to write about the process of learning, in all its crazy complexity, its frustration and delight.
“Triangle Suitcase” is about unpacking the process of learning. I picked the name because, to me, it evokes a sense of adventure and discovery… and math, of course!
So…welcome to my blog! I’ll be writing about the process of learning. I’m particularly interested in new research about motivation and focus.
I want to thank all the people who have helped make this blog possible. Thank you, Liz Jones-Dilworth and Josh Jones-Dilworth for all your help getting me started! And thanks to Bryan Connor for designing and building such a beautiful site for my blog!
Oh, Rebecca, it is beautiful! Can’t wait to read more!
Thank you so much, Liz! I am so fortunate to have had your guidance as my blog coach!
